The word Reiki originates from the Japanese language; translated it means 'universal life force-energy.' This describes the energy that drives all universal life; a phenomenon that has been described since the beginning of time and across the entire world. It has also been called Chi, Prana, and Ki, all meaning 'universal life-force energy.' Chi is recognized as the driving force for life, and thus essential for the survival of everything on Earth including humans, animals, plants, as well as the universe beyond.
As we come to recognize this life-force we begin to see that imbalances and illnesses in the body are due to blockages in energy pathways within the body, which depletes our life-force energy. Traditional medicine can heal on a matter basis, but our bodies cannot restore to proper health if our energy pathways are blocked and/or unbalanced. As such, many practices have been developed over the years to help rebalance the mind, body, and spirit to re-establish the flow of energy. Reiki is a Japanese, holistic, light-touch therapy that uses the powerful vibration and flow of life-force energy to help restore energy pathways and bodily functions.
On August 15, 1865 Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki, was born in Taniai, Japan. Over the course of his life Mikao worked hard studying medicine, psychology, religion, and spiritual development, becoming known as a spiritual seeker, practicing Kiko (a combination of breathing exercises, meditation, and movement known as 'moving meditation'), and becoming a member of Rei Jyntu Ka, a metaphysical group.
In 1914 at the age of 49, Mikao Usui became a Buddhist monk, which, in 1922, took him on a retreat of prayer, meditation, chanting, and fasting for 21 days at Mount Kurama in Kyoto, Japan. It was at this time that Mikao Usui realized he could heal other people without depleting his own energy.
As a result of this spiritual awakening, Mikao Usui created the Usui System of Natural Healing and developed a society known as the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakleai. A clinic was opened in Harajuku, Japan where he began providing Reiki sessions and teaching classes. Mikao and his students were able to provide their skills after the Kant earthquake of September 1, 1923.
As the society grew, a larger clinic was opened in Nakano, Japan in 1925, where Mikao began teaching and lecturing.
One year later, in 1926, Mikao Usui died of a stroke. He was buried at Saihoji Temple in Suginami-Ku Tokyo, Japan. Over 4 short years, Mikao Usui taught over 2,000 students and 16 teachers to provide a natural healing to the public, helping hundreds, with the mission to make Reiki available to everyone.

Reiki is a holistic, energy based, light-touch therapy that uses universal life-force energy to promote natural healing and restore balance within the body. Through a series of hand positions on, or slightly above the body, energy is channelled from the practitioner’s hands and drawn into the client’s body. The energy then flows through the body to the area where it is most needed (either on an emotional, mental, physical, or spiritual level), re-establishing the flow of energy, thus balancing and realigning the body's energy systems.
Reiki is a natural healing that is not associated with any religion. It can be used along with any clinical or any other holistic treatments.
Reiki can be preformed while the client is sitting or lying down. In both cases, the person remains fully clothed while the practitioner holds his/her hands in a stationary position slightly above or on the body, in various locations from head to toe. As such, there is no manipulation of the skin but merely a passage of energy from the practitioner to the client. Reiki can also be given over distance, where the practitioner sends out the needed energy to the patient, similar to that of sending our prayers or good thoughts to others.
During treatments clients may feel either warm or cold, experience pulsating heat or tingling sensations, while in most cases they will enter a very calm and relaxed state. In some cases, unresolved emotional issues may surface which need to be resolved so that healing can take place, or they may laugh or cry for no apparent reason. Any and all of these experiences are merely a result of the energy passing through the body and opening up the Chakras and energy pathway systems, enabling the body to begin healing itself.
Once the session is over it is important that the client takes a few minutes to come back into full awareness, as the individual may become so relaxed they need a few minutes to ground themselves. It helps to sit for a few minutes and drink a glass of cool water, or the client may find that placing their feet firmly on the floor helps to ground their body and bring them back to full awareness.
Clients may experience a variety of different responses to the treatment depending on the individual and their circumstances. In some cases there is a 'healing crisis' or 'break-through' due to the flow of the energy through the body, which may last a few minutes to a day or two. Others may notice their bodies detoxifying built up waste, in which case their intake of water should be increased and more rest may be needed. However, most recipients recognize an increase in their energy, awareness, and overall well being. At the very least, individuals generally feel calmer and more relaxed than they were before the treatment. In the days that follow the Reiki session, the energy continues to flow throughout the client's body, providing continued healing on all levels - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Many clients have found their pain to either diminish during treatment, and in the days following their treatment, while others begin to notice improvements after a few sessions. Due to every individuals specific needs, condition, and terms of illness, the results and number of sessions required will vary between individuals. Note: There are no negative side effects from receiving Reiki treatments.

Reiki Level Two is designed for those who have received their Reiki Level One Certification and are interested in furthering their training to learn the Reiki symbols and how to use them, as well as for those who wish to advance their studies and become a Reiki Master/Teacher. This Reiki Level Two class provides you the necessary training and tools to become a Reiki Practitioner upon completion and certification of this program.
Reiki Level Two is designed to help you learn the symbols taught by Mikao Usui, and will further enhance the Reiki energy flow, allowing you to use it in many different ways. Upon completion of the program you will be a Reiki Practitioner enabling you to offer treatments that promote healing on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels, and will also have the ability to provide distant/remote healing.

The Reiki Master course is designed for those who wish to teach traditional Usui Reiki. The pre-requisite for taking this class is certification in Reiki Level 1 & Reiki Level 2. This class will provide you with the necessary training and tools needed to successfully teach Usui Reiki.
Class instruction includes:
~ Learning the last Usui Master symbol
~ Practice drawing this symbol
~ Learning how to apply and use the Master
symbol
~ Receiving Usui Reiki Master level attunement
~ Hands-on experience practicing all the Reiki
